The picture shows my
grandparents Martin and Edith in their garden with a view back over Morse Lane.
Martin Luther Sleeman was born the family house
on the Morse Lane Ruardean. He worked in the coal
mines. Initially he worked at the stables for the pit ponies used underground for
haulage. In his latter days in the pits in the Forest, he was the the boss
haulier, responsible for getting the coal and waste from the pit face out to the
surface. |
